A friend contacted me to ask my opinion about buying a new computer. I, of course, reiterated what I’ve been telling her for years: Get a mac. Her main concern was being able to teleconference with non-mac users. That was an easy issue since we tested out video conferencing with iChat (on my mac) and her windows webcamera. I asked her what other programs she would need to use. In the past she had mentioned a “remote desktop” program to use her work computer from home. She sent me a link to where she access her work computer. It was Citrix. I had experience with this, since I use it for one of my businesses that uses online forms.
When I tried logging on her server I got the following error:
SSL Error 0: You have not chosen to trust “UTN-USERFirst-Hardware”, the issuer of the server’s security certificate
A quick search online got me to this forum:
http://ctxex10.citrix.com/forums/thread.jspa?forumID=12&threadID=85793&messageID=566016&
with information on how to create the .crt file that is needed. I created the file in windows’s NotePad (XP not Vista) using Parallels, because of previous issues I’ve had with extensions in mac’s TextEdit and windows not recognizing them. I followed the instructions on the forum, tried accessing her server again, and I was on her desktop.
Now the big question: when will she finally get her mac?!
